“It was an honour to welcome the royal family into my artwork. The event was broadcast live on national television (NOS).” — Louise te Poele
Initially, she was commissioned to create a traditional still life, but that felt far too limited. Louise wanted to build a total installation — an environment you don’t just look at, but step into. The work explores what happens when you enter a new space: how you always carry certain expectations with you, and how art can disrupt those expectations. It is precisely this tension that Te Poele sought to make visible.
