For Concentric Spheres, we developed a podcast to give the project additional context and depth. On this page, you can already listen to the first episode. Listen to the full series via this link: https://www.grootdeunk.nl/audiotour-concentric-spheres/
Rising from the spring at Groot Deunk, the colourful totem poles of Concentric Spheres symbolise stories of freedom. For many years, this location was home to the Groot Deunk asylum seekers’ centre. As part of 80 Years of Freedom Gelderland, former local resident and founder of De Niemanders, Wout Kemkens, speaks with people who have recently fled to the Netherlands, former residents of AZC Groot Deunk, artist Louise te Poele, and members of De Niemanders — a band born in asylum seekers’ centres. The podcast interweaves these voices with visions for the future and the layered history of Groot Deunk, creating an audio story that connects past and present.
