The exhibition Standing on the Shoulders of Giants 2 at the Saatchi Gallery, is a pioneering collaboration between artist-curator Louise te Poele, the V&A and Saatchi Gallery. Following the success of our first edition, this exhibition shows new works from nine Dutch female artists created in dialogue with pieces by female artists represented in the Prints and Drawings Study Room of the V&A. For this project, the V&A granted access to its collection of works by female creators, enabling the contemporary artists to immerse themselves in centuries of creative heritage. Selected works from this archival trove have served as essential sources of inspiration for this cohort of artists, prompting reinterpretation and ingenuity. The works chosen by the artists are available to view by appointment in the V&A Prints and Drawings Study Room on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Through this unique collaboration between leading cultural institutions, the project seeks to create a space for recognition and momentum in an art world where the representation of female artists remains imbalanced. The works in this exhibition are available for purchase. Please enquire at the Saatchi Store for further details.
